The ability of governments to achieve their social and economic goals with limited resources is dependent upon the efficiency, transparency, flexibility of public administration institutions. Even though economic advancement is witnessed worldwide, certain economies are marked with a very interesting paradox - accelerated economic progress on one hand and extreme social and economic inequity on the other. Social inclusion is a critical aspect of achieving long-term development that significantly improves the lives of the world's poorest people.
We work in partnership with development agencies, governments and NGOs to create a positive impact towards achieving inclusive, sustainable social and economic development. We have successfully conceptualised and implemented assignments with a focus on community empowerment, slum development, poverty reduction policy and capacity building, participatory learning and appraisal, community mobilisation, economic development, voice and accountability, behaviour change communication, design of social safety nets, beneficiary analysis and satisfaction surveys and poverty tracking and monitoring systems.

AREAP seeks to improve access to high quality relevant data, evidence and analysis for African citizens, non-state actors and policy makers. We manage the Learning Hub and support three major non-government agencies working at national, regional and continental levels in Africa through civil society coalitions to assess the evidence for holding decision-makers to account for treaties, protocols and policies that protect human rights and promote a poverty reduction agenda. Also, we are producing a series of case studies for audiences that include DFID, The World Bank, UN, governments and civil society and also, developing a realistic approach for evaluating the value for money aspects of empowerment and accountability work, including recommendations for improvements.
