Ashok is an urban and environmental economist with five years' professional experience. His current work lies at the intersection of climate adaptation, urban planning and sustainable economic development.

Ashok has over five years’ experience conducting rigorous economic analysis and advising on sustainability strategy. He currently works at the intersection of climate adaptation, urban planning and sustainable economic development as part of Triple Line's Inclusive Growth and Resilience (IGR) team. He specialises in providing strategic insights, data analysis and visualization, programme evaluation, and impact assessment to inform public policy and investment opportunities at a variety of spatial scales.

His recent projects are geographically focused in East Africa, South- and South-East Asia for clients such as the World Bank, FCDO, C40 Cities, the Clean Air Fund, and TradeMark Africa. These have included estimating cooling-related energy demand from rising urban heat in Quezon City, flood risk management in Mogadishu and Hargeisa, identifying interventions to improve urban air quality in Bangkok, scoping bankable green city investments in several secondary Ethiopian cities, and greening economic corridors through sustainable transport and trade infrastructure investment in several East African countries.

Before joining Triple Line Ashok worked at McKinsey & Company and Vivid Economics on projects spanning a range of sustainability and infrastructure topics covering carbon markets, socio-economic impacts assessments, green infrastructure and net-zero transition planning. Before that he worked in academic research at the Center for Economic Performance in the London School of Economics where he supported several projects in applied urban economics using quantitative spatial models and high-quality microdata. He has further experience of journalism as a reporter for the Myanmar Times in Yangon, agricultural trade policy in the UK’s Department for Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), and healthcare development assistance at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Ashok holds an MSc in Economics from the Barcelona School of Economics and a BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from the University of Warwick during which he spent a year on exchange at Sciences Po Paris specialising in economics and urban studies.
